Course Objective
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake the safety observer role for permits requiring a safety observer. Safety observers can stop permit work, but do not have the authority to restart it.

Please note - where the person is safety observer for confined space permit they should also be competent in confined space entry.
Course prerequisites
Must provide drivers licence or other photo identification which contains photo, date of birth and signature.
Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation.
Upon enrolment a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment must be completed.
Any pre-study received MUST be read and completed in FULL prior to attending on the day. This will be a requirement to your course and there is an expectation that this is completed. 
Where the person is safety observer for confined space permit they should also be competent in confined space entry.

Take appropriate action for potential incident
Complete safety observer role

Duration: 4 hour course 
Times: 8am - 12pm (unless negotiated otherwise)
Cost: $200.00* per person

Verbal Assessment $75.00

On successful completion of this course students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for MSMPER202 Observe permit work and a Observe permit work Duty of Care Card.

Learners must
Read this course information and the Learners Handbook prior to enrolment.
Wear fully enclosed footwear such as safety boots and long pants and shirt.
Have photo identification (ie Australian Drivers Licence, Passport or Proof of Age Card).
Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number before attending the course (refer to the Learners Handbook).
