Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation (Fire Warden)

Course Objective

This course is designed to ensure that learners gain the skills and knowledge required to put in place the emergency response required in the workplace emergency procedures, or specified by a person in a higher level of the emergency control organisation. learners undertaking this course will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the Emergency Control Organisation.


On successful completion of this course learners will be issued with.

  • Statement of Attainment for PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation (Fire Warden)
  • Operate as part of an emergency organisation Duty of Care Card

Course Prerequisites
• Must be 16 years of age or over
• Must provide Drivers Licence or other photo identification which contains photo, date of birth and signature.
• Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation
• PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility should be completed before commencing training 
Course Content
Respond to Emergency reports, signals and warnings Initiate and control initial emergency response
• Arrangement
• Evacuation priorities
• Own role within the workplace emergency procedures

Anticipate the further development of emergencies
• Hazards identified
• Methods of accounting for people during and after evacuations

Assist with post initial response
• Responses to meet various situations
• Workplace procedures
Assessment
Assessment of this unit is done via the completion of a written assessment, observation of practical assessment activities including the completion of workplace documentation.

The assessment will be conducted in English without the use of an interpreter. The outcome of the assessment will be Competent or Not Yet Competent. If you are Not Yet Competent your trainer will provide you feedback and you will have the opportunity to re-sit the assessment.

Duration: 4 hours
Times: 8:00am—12:00pm
Cost: $200 (nil GST) per person

• Verbal Assessment $ 75.00
• Re-Assessment Fee (only applicable if Learner is required to come back for reassessment - Contact Office for more details)
• Re-issue of card $ 50.00
Fees must be paid in full before the course date or payment arrangement in place.

Learners Must:
• Read this course information and the Student Information Booklet prior to enrolment.
• Wear fully enclosed footwear such as sand shoes and long pants and shirt.
• Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number before attending the course (refer to the Student Information Booklet).
